Overview
The aim of the program is to train scientific experts in the field of history based on scientific and historical research activities. One of the goals of the program is to train expert individuals who have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and experience to be able to conduct education, training and high-level research in the field of history, who can think critically, have high self-confidence and have the competence to follow innovations in their field on a national and international scale. It aims to provide graduates of history, social sciences or humanities departments with the necessary infrastructure for scientific research in the discipline of history, which has interdisciplinary expansions.
Program Specific Requirements
- To apply for the Thesis Master’s Degree Programme, candidates must hold a bachelor’s diploma, and submit their copy of the ALES (Academic Staff and Postgraduate Education Admission Exam) score, which must be at least 55 of the required weight (verbal or quantitative or equally weighted) by the Programme. The exam is centrally held by ÖSYM (Centre for Assessment, Selection, and Placement).
Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to: Access the primary resources in History. Re-evaluate the History based on contemporary methods. Benefit from other disciplines to write History. Evaluate the historical events in the History of Turkey and the World by comparison. Rewrite the contradictive events in the light of new findings. Acquire knowledge to translate and analyse the historical resources written in other languages. Prepare academic papers and reports. Come up with new ideas about the history of societies, cities, regions, and dynasties, using the technique of comparison.
Career Opportunities
- Students can: Work at universities and advance in their academic career. Work in State Archives, Libraries, or as specialists in institutions. Work as specialist teachers within the Ministry of National Education
