Associate in Medical Documentation and Secretarial

The Programme of Medical Documentation and Secretarial Services aims to educate prospective professionals who provide secretarial services in every field of the medical sector, write, record, and archive the diagnoses and treatments pertaining to each and every patient, compile all information and documents in both printed and digital format, have a good command of the medical terminology, save time and effort for the healthcare givers and receivers through written and verbal communication, and respect the professional ethics.

Learning Outcomes
- This Programme aims to equip the students with the skills of using the medical terminology, communicating with the patients, their relatives, and health professionals effectively, following the protocol rules, keeping their motivation high for their job, avoiding stress, filing and archiving techniques, performing encoding with the ICD-10 system, reporting, and performing formal correspondence, etc. in public and private health institutions.
Career Opportunities
- Our graduates work in medical units of the public and private health institutions such as inpatient clinics, outpatient clinics, laboratories, operating rooms, and emergency departments, as well as in administrative units such as the medical board, admissions unit, and the patient file archives. Since it is a profession which is becoming more and more important and efficient, it offers a wide range of career options. Besides various units of public and private health institutions, our graduates may also be employed in outpatient healthcare facilities, private polyclinics, provincial health directorates, scientific research e-publication companies, medical equipment firms, dispensaries, imaging centres, and physicians’ practices.
- Graduates of the Vocational School’s Medical Documentation and Secretarial Services Programme, the Department of Medical Services and Techniques, can begin their careers as administrative staff members in hospitals and other similar institutions, and then they can be promoted to the position of chief clerk (Administrative Affairs and Technical Works, Library and Archives, etc.) depending on their professional success and experience.
- Provided they pass the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) administered by the Centre for Assessment, Selection and Placement (ÖSYM), graduates of the “Programme of Medical Documentation and Secretarial Services” can transfer to the undergraduate degree programmes Health Institutions Management, and Health Administration.
