Overview
The programme aims to equip students who will work in national and international financial institutions in the banking sector with essential and up-to-date knowledge, enable them to follow, analyse and interpret the latest developments in domestic and global markets, and educate prospective professionals as well as managers who have a comprehensive vision of how the markets function.
The Programme aims to educate prospective visionary professionals who have the knowledge required by the banking and finance field and analytical thinking skills, and enable professionals who work in banks and financial institutions to develop their competencies.
Program Specific Requirements
- The ALES (Academic Staff and Postgraduate Education Admission Exam) is not required for the non-thesis master’s degree programmes. (The Amendment Published in the Official Gazette No. 30417 of 10.05.2018) To apply for the master’s degree programme, candidates must have a bachelor’s diploma, and provide a copy of ALES (Academic Staff and Postgraduate Education Admission Exam which is administrated centrally by the Centre for Assessment, Selection and Placement) score which must be at least 55 points in the required score type (verbal, quantitative or equal weight) or provide a copy of an equivalent score of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), which are internationally recognized by the Council of Higher Education. The Senate will decide on what percentage of a candidate’s ALES score will be taken into consideration during admission and evaluation processes (The percentage set by the Senate must be a minimum of 50%.). Furthermore, the Institute may admit students to a master’s degree programme solely based on their ALES scores. The minimum score obtained in an ALES equivalent exam which is recognised by the Council of Higher Education may be increased upon the Senate’s decision.
Learning Outcomes
- Students: Have basic knowledge, concepts and theories of Banking and Finance. Have analytical and strategic thinking and problem-solving skills in financial matters. Have up-to-date knowledge and skills necessary for adaptation to global banking and financial changes. Plan and report financial aspects of a project. Employ information technologies commonly used in finance, and customise their contents. Customise the contents of information technologies used in finance. Manage financial matters and different financial asset portfolios. Combine their theoretical knowledge with different disciplines to produce and use information. In light of knowledge acquired in the field, contribute to the development of plans aimed at tackling economic issues. Draw up and publish a paper, article, thesis, and report in line with scientific ethics and field-specific standards during their academic studies. Produce information and develop a vision for sector-related activities.

- Graduates of our master’s degree programmes can work in banks as a specialist/assistant specialist, bank examiner/assistant bank examiner, internal auditor/assistant internal auditor, finance specialist/assistant finance specialist, financial advisor, and portfolio manager.
